Equine Consumer Reports: Fiebings Liquid Glycerine
We didn’t feel that Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap necessarily outranked other liquid glycerine saddle soaps that we tested, however we believe it stands on its own as a good cleaner that makes leather feel and look great.
Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap enhances leather to its true colour, leaving leather with a beautiful classic sheen. We were impressed with how easily it lathered and its ease of application. However we found that Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap doesn’t lift dirt from the leather pores the same as some other, more expensive cleaners we tested and thus leather should be wiped with a damp cloth before- hand to remove excess dirt.
After cleaning with Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap, leather feels suppler and looks polished. But like with all other liquid glycerine saddle soaps we tested, we found regular cleaning is required to maintain its sheen.
Our favorite part about cleaning with Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap was the lemon-scent it left on leather. We found this a very pleasant alternative to the general soapy smell of other cleaners.
A clean fragrance combined with great shine, Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap makes leather fit right onto the shelves of show-oriented barns.
This is an effective cleaner on black or brown leather and is ideal for making saddles and bridles stand out. However we found it may leave a sticky gloss on leather if excess is not wiped away enough, or not buffed after application.
With age and weather-worn leather, Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap will still make leather shine but is best followed with a conditioner if you wish to improve the leather’s actual condition. Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap makes leather look great but may be best for use as a pre-show shiner and not for improving leather’s condition or for weekly maintenance.
All in all, Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap is a good leather enhancer that will catch eyes in the show ring. For a polishing cleaner that is easy to use and inexpensive, Fiebing’s Liquid Glycerine Saddle Soap is a top choice.
