Equine Consumer Reports: Lexol pH Cleaner
Lexol pH is suitable on almost all leather types (except suede and glove soft leather). We found that leather became suppler almost immediately after application of Lexol pH. However, we did find that other products were more effective, over time, in making leather supple.
What we liked most about Lexol pH is that it lathers nicely and penetrates into the leather, lifting dirt for easier cleaning. With Lexol pH, a little goes a long way, making it very affordable.
After application, Lexol pH leaves leather looking polished and smooth. It is easy to apply but be sure to wipe away excess cleaner.
Summit Industries, Inc. states that this cleaner is “pH balanced” which is highly important as imbalanced pH levels can be harmful to leather. The labeling on the bottle also claims that “This is the best leather cleaner you can buy.” In our opinion, it is a good all around cleaner, at par with other cleaners – but we don’t consider it the best.
Lexol pH can be used effectively on old or new leather but we found that, when leather is treated regularly with Lexol pH over a prolonged time, it doesn’t preserve the leather’s radiance and may even dull its colour.
We liked the results of Lexol pH when combined with the Lexol Leather Conditioner. Combining Lexol pH with a quality balsam once a month may be a good choice to help preserve leather colour. If using Lexol pH on a regular basis, we would recommend 2-3 applications a month.
All in all, the immediate results of Lexol pH are pleasing to the eye. It is a good maintenance cleaner and when combined with Lexol Leather Conditioner it shines in the show ring. We found Lexol pH to be one of the most affordable on the market.
