Heather Lee Reid
Pilates Niagara
A former world class horsewoman, Heather Lee Reid is a certified, level 2 Stott Pilates Instructor. Over a thirty year riding career, she performed with great success on the Western Show circuit, and was a featured performer on Canada's pro rodeo circuit and at major fairs and festivals. She has been a solo performer in such prestigious venues as the CNE's Coliseum at Quarterama, the Toronto Sportsmen's Show and a host of other events. During that time, Heather was rated by the President of the Western Horse Association as "the best female 'Trick and Fancy Rider' in North America, bar none." She is the former owner and operator of "White Horse Carriages" and has been a horse wrangler and rider/driver for feature films and television. Heather is currently a dressage student.
Heather discovered Pilates seven years ago after a severe back injury while doing barn chores. The benefits were immediate and Heather fell in love with Pilates’ concepts of gentle, intelligent exercise. Heather recovered fully from her injury and continued to apply the basic Pilates principles in her daily life. Pilates has kept her fit, strong and active. “At age fifty-two, I feel like a twenty-nine year old.” Her fitness training includes Therapeutic Pilates, Hatha Yoga, Yamuna Body Rolling, the Franklin Method of Movement, Centered Riding as pioneered by Sally Swift and extensive training in human and equine anatomy.
In her own experience with Pilates, “Everyone has progressed (at varying rates.) Everyone does receive some benefit, absolutely!”
